After reading mixed reviews, I was hesitant to buy these shoes. However, since returns were free, I decided to give them a try. Here’s what I can share that I hope is helpful:I purchased the regular “wide” (C/D) shoe. These shoes are wide enough for my feet that slightly swell and accommodates the mild deformity on my right foot that makes it wider than the left. However, my custom orthotic does not go all the way down into the bottom of the shoe, but rather pushes out the stretchy side of the shoe a bit—but it stays placed and is comfortable and stable where it sits. I suspect it will eventually rub a place through the side of the shoe, but at this price they are still going to hold up long enough to be worth it. I would chose the 2E width next time, but no biggie.Depth is pretty good. If you have custom orthotics and remove the insole that comes in the shoe they will be fine. A tiny bit shallower than my Dr Comfort pair, but fine.Sizing is same as Dr Comfort, and so I am assuming that all diabetic shoes run alike, which for me is one size larger than “off the shelf” shoes at a WalMart or Target. These shoes are comfortable. However, they do not have a lot of support. The sides are super soft—-think “thick lace up sock” more than “diabetic shoe.” No there is not the usual clunkiness. I would not be able to wear these shoes to work; they aren’t built for that. They aren’t going to be for anyone with ankle issues either. My foot problem is corrected by my orthotics, so for errands, and wearing around the house, these seem great!
